Can I add stained glass to a front door that already has glass?

If your front door has a plain glass panel in it frosted, clear, whatever I can replace it with a custom leaded window. The door stays. The frame stays. I take out the existing glass, build a new leaded panel to fit the exact opening, and install it. Nothing structural changes.

Why the front door is worth doing

It's the first thing people see. And it's one of those places where a relatively small change has a disproportionate impact on the character of the whole house. A plain frosted panel doesn't do anything for a home. A well-designed leaded window even a simple geometric one completely changes how the entrance feels.

For homes in Toronto's older neighbourhoods, The Junction, The Annex, Roncesvalles, Rosedale, this kind of detail was always meant to be there. Most of these houses were built with leaded glass in the entrance. When it's gone, you notice the absence. Putting it back just makes the home feel right again.

What I actually do

I visit the space, measure the opening, and look at how the current glass is held in place. Every door is a bit different. Then I design a panel to fit that exact opening, get your approval, build it, and install it. The installation itself is usually a few hours.

What if there are multiple panels?

That's common too. A lot of front doors have a main panel plus smaller sidelights or a transom above. You can do them all at once or start with just the main panel and come back for the rest. I can match the design across phases without any issue. A lot of homeowners do it that way they see how the first one looks and then want the rest to match.
